2008 edo competition Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

With the modified Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera edo competition Motorsport has now added a second high-profile Italian racer to its tuning program after the Murcielago LP 640. Like its bigger brother, this sports car with the bull in its logo excels through its highlighted racing genes and more aggressive appearance after being modified at edo competition.

The most remarkable feature is the sensational acceleration. edo competition achieves these figures thanks to the installation of a massive air box, high flow catalytic converters which are a completely new design and a recalibration of the engine electronics. All components together raise the power output to 560 hp (411 kW) at 8,250 rpm. The power increase of 30 hp / 22 kW boosts the top speed by about 6 km/h (4 mph) to 320 km/h (199 mph).Another highlight: The sound volume of the modified exhaust system can be adjusted via remote.

The sporty concept of the edo Gallardo Superleggera is rounded off with 19“ three-piece racing wheels with an artificially-aged cast center-section, hand-polished outer rims and 39 stainless steel screws.

The front wheels are shod in stock-sized or (on request) 245/35 ZR 19 rubber while 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx tires are used on the rear axle. With this solution edo competition enables its customers to reuse the factory tires on their new wheels.

edo competition treats the masculine stance of the Gallardo Superleggera to an additional testosterone injection by lowering the suspension by a good 15 mm and through the use of corner-weighting. With these upgrades, the Lambo sticks to the road so firmly and unflappably that it would take an earthquake to upset its poise.

Verdict from the July 2008 Autobild comparison test „Edo Gallardo / MTM R8“: „The edo Gallardo Superleggera is the more harmonic and better balanced car.

2008 Hartge BMW X5

A SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) such as the X5 also looks well kitted out with such sporty accessories as a front spoiler, rear skirt and two-piece side sills. Unlike the HARTGE “HUNTER”, which transforms the X5 into a thoroughbred off-road vehicle, this version from the German-based automaker on a BMW basis bears the unmistakable hallmarks of an individual “road runner”. Under the hood, a modified ECU performs absolute miracles, boosting the power of the 3.0d engine from 235 hp (173 kW) to a solid 275 hp (202 kW), while the maximum torque goes up from 520 Nm (lb-ft 384) to almost 600 Nm (lb-ft 443). This power boost lends this 4-wheel-drive vehicle, with its 6 speed automatic gearbox and weighing in at more 2150 kg, outstanding performance figures, allowing it to sprint in 7.4 seconds to a speed of 100 km/h (production vehicle 8.3 sec.) and reach a top speed of 232 km/h. The additional 16 km/h is derived – if only to a minor extent – also from the aerodynamic components and the reduced frontal area. Thanks to a sports spring set with level control system for rear axle, this X5 is namely 30 mm lower.

Dodge Challeneger SRT8 by SpeedFactory

Let the mods begin; as soon as the guys over at Speedfactory received their first 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 they went straight to work adding a 5.5 lb supercharger as the first step (Stage 1). According to Speedfactory’s initial dyno results, the 6.1-liter supercharged Hemi V8 delivers 496Hp to the rear wheels, meaning that there should be around 600Hp at the crankshaft.

Oettinger VW

OETTINGER grants the first cautious views of one of its best kept secrets: the aerodynamic package for the Golf V. „We deliberately waited because we wanted to gauge the trends and wishes of our potential customers as well as Volkswagens model politic for its most important model“ stated OETTINGER Press spokesman Philip Dorian Blau.

What has emerged are two sporty-elegant packages whose front skirts not only fit the standard five, but also the GTI and R32 versions.

„Many things must be taken into account when one works with our high quality and technical standards...“ Blau adds „...there are 4 fog lamp versions within the range, different radiator grilles for the standard, GTI and R32, the optimal air flow to the Naca ducts for the various engine versions and adequate cooling for vehicles with engine must be taken into consideration.“

But as is to be expected, the team from Friedrichsdorf have mastered all the challenges and guarantee the material quality and fit of the components with OEM standard (RIM), whose presence in the rear view mirror is as impressive as ever. For the front, the customer can choose between two radiator grilles, a front spoiler and a complete front skirt . With this, OETTINGER is continuing the philosophy of their successful programme for the Golf 4 in offering a big and a small version. The style presented by both fronts can be further enhanced with side skirts (set), rear apron and a tailgate spoiler which allows use of the third brake light.

This means that the GTI customer, for example, can choose whether he wants to combine the new OETTINGER front skirt with his original grille or with one from OETTINGER. The larger air intakes provide ample room for the installation of additional intercoolers for more comprehensive engine conversions.

Wald designed Lexus IS-F styling kit

Japanese tuning house Wald International has a wide range of styling and performance kits for nearly every Japanese-made car on the market. It’s no surprise the company has turned its hand to one of the most recent high-performance sedans to issue from Lexus, then, and the resulting restyle shows some characteristic Wald touches along with a flair unique to the IS-F.

The IS-F kit offers a significantly more aggressive look for the IS-F owner not satisfied with the reserved yet muscular look Lexus imbued the car with at the factory. Adding larger, more angular front intakes with a separate brake duct and a dual lower splitter, the front of the car looks much more purposefully fast than the stock car. A slightly wider side-sill treatment flows to the rear side skirts, which receive Wald’s trademark shark-gill extractor vents behind the rear wheels.

A custom diffuser under the rear end looks like more than just a pretty piece of molding, and coupled with the rear wing, should help improve downforce at speed. The IS-F’s front extractor just behind the front wheel is left untouched.

Aside from the spoiler at the back of the car, the kit builds on the IS-F’s basic look, adding aggressive styling to match the powerful engine under the hood.

Renntech Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series

Straight out of the box the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series is already one of the most extreme production cars on the planet. With a full DTM-style wide-bodykit, carbon-fiber lined interior and a thunderous V8 engine pumping out 507hp (373kW) and 465lb-ft (630Nm) of torque, few would feel the need to lift the performance of the car.

However, for the guys at Renntech it appears that nothing can be too extreme. The Florida tuner has set about boosting the output from the already high-strung engine – lifting power by 43hp (32kW) to a new peak of 550hp (410kW). Peak torque also rises by 59lb-ft (80Nm). To achieve the bump in performance, engineers added a recalibrated ECU, long-tube headers and a high-flow exhaust system.
“Real-world performance is all about torque, not so much about a peak horsepower number at very high rpm,” explains Hartmut Feyhl, company founder. “It can be very easy to build high rpm horsepower, but to get instant throttle response and mid-range acceleration it is more difficult, and this is where customers really want to feel that improvement.”
With the added power, the car will now accelerate from 0-62mph (100km/h) in less than four seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 186mph (300km/h).
Renntech has also replaced a lot of the standard plastic and metal trim details with new carbon-fiber pieces, including the front splitter and new diffuser. There’s also a custom sports suspension set-up with carbon-fiber struts and fully-adjustable camber bushings at all four corners

Vath tunes the Merc C Class to 585hp

Mercedes tuning specialists Vath have taken the C63 AMG - already worked over by Mercedes’ own in-house tuners - and added their own special touches to come up with a car that would make Brabus proud. The V63RS takes the C-Class platform near its limits with 585hp and 690Nm of torque, an increase of more than 130hp and 90Nm over stock.

Extracting another 130hp from the 6.2L V8 after AMG’s engineer’s have done their magic is no small task, though the addition of a new ECU tune and a more free-flowing intake and exhaust system help the process. All that power is enough to take the car to some very high speeds, so the company has limited the V63RS to 325km/h (202mph) for safety’s sake.
To handle the massive power and higher stresses of high-speed touring, the C-Class has been upgraded in several key areas, including the differential and suspension. Large 19″ alloys with 235mm wide tires up front and 265mm rubber in back provide grip, though the 690Nm of torque on tap should easily overpower even that rather large contact patch. Carbon fiber aero pieces shave a total of 21kg (46lbs) from the car’s weight, making acceleration even more brisk.

Arden Range Rover AR7 with 520Hp Twin-Supercharged V8

Arden’s latest development is the AR7 based on the Range Rover that features a series of mechanical and aesthetic upgrades. For starters, the German tuning firm enlarged the capacity of the Range Rover’s V8 engine from 4.2 to 4.5-liters and added a high performance twin screw supercharger. The V8’s output has been increased to an ample 520Hp with a maximum torque of 680Nm or 501.5 lbs-ft. Despite the impressive output, the AR7 manages a mediocre 6.5 sec for the 0 - 100 km/h (0-62mph) sprint. For example, the stock Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 5.5 sec. In addition to the mechanical upgrades, Arden has dressed the Range Rover with a tasteful bodykit that includes a wide front apron with LED daytime running lights, wheel arch extensions, side skirts and a newly developed rear apron that incorporates a new set of rectangular tailpipes. The AR7’s looks are complemented by new 22 or 23-inch forged alloy wheels. Finally, the AR7’s interior has been dressed in leather and alcantara that can be ordered in any colour desired while there are also a wide variety of high-grade woods, chrome, carbon and aluminium applications for the dash and the door trims.

2009 Mercedes G 55 AMG

Mercedes-Benz G Class has been around for a good 27 years now, and has rarely undergone a 'next generation' treatment like most cars, the current generation has been on the roads since 1990. It may never have been the best selling in the Mercedes range, but obviously it has always sold enough for it to stay in the line-up.

For the 2009 Model Year (MY) Mercedes has made, yet again, a few minor tweaks to the aging G Class which were released late last month. Now Mercedes has finally released official information on their range topping G Class, the G 55 AMG.

Besides the new grille design with three, larger horizontal bars with chrome inserts and new 19 inch AMG light alloy wheels (275/55 R 19), the biggest news is the 7 horsepower power increase over the 2008 MY and the 5.5 liter V8 engine now tops at 507 hp / 373 kW. Top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h but is capable of a 0-100 km/h sprint of 5.5 seconds.

Other AMG treatment includes wide fenders, body colored bumpers, brushed-aluminum trim set, AMD sports exhaust system with chrome tailpipes and stainless steel running boards. The G 55 AMG is only available as the long wheel base 5-door station wagon model, will be available starting September 2008 and will have a recommended price starting at Euro 121,628 euro

ASI Tetsu GTR Bentley Continental GT

Most Bentley Continental GTs leaving the Crewe factory in England are bound for lives of leisure in the climate-controlled garages of the fiscally fortunate. Sure, a few end up in music videos or the movies, but we're certain none ever expect to be bastardized the way this one was.

Created by Japanese tuner ASI, the Tetsu GTR takes one Bentley Continental GT and adds a new front and rear apron; exposed carbon fiber hood, trunk and spoiler; a set of oversized wheels and a custom paint job that plasters said carbon fiber hood with... flowers. The flower bed on the hood was reportedly painted by Japanese artist Nakamura Tetsui, but that doesn't make it any more palatable. There seems to be some method to the Tetsu GTR's madness, as the front turn signals appear inspired by the Porsche 911 and the rear has an unmistakable Audi R8 flavor.

The car has been upgraded with unspecified mechanical components that boost the twin-turbo W12 up to 800 horsepower, which just makes driving away from all those confused stares in public a faster affair. We hope you join us in pouring a 40 out on the sidewalk for this particular Bentley Continental GT, because it's so hard to say goodbye.

Kicherer Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Edition

Straight out of the box the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series is already one of the most extreme production cars on the planet. With a full DTM-style wide-bodykit, carbon-fiber lined interior and a thunderous V8 engine pumping out 507hp (373kW), few would feel the need to lift the performance of the car.

However, for the guys at Kicherer it appears that nothing can be too extreme. The German tuner has set about boosting the output from the already high-strung engine – lifting power by 33hp (25kW) to a new peak of 540hp (403kW).
With the added power, the car will now accelerate from 0-62mph (100km/h) in just 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 300km/h (186mph).
Kicherer has also replace a lot of the standard plastic and metal trim details with new carbon-fiber pieces, including the front grille slats and new carbon bucket seats. There’s also a new set of H&R springs and a set of lightweight forged alloy wheels.

Supercharged Audi S5 by MTM

Famed German tuner MTM has gotten its hands on an Audi S5 and given it some more grunt in typical MTM fashion. While the MTM version of the Audi S5 is no dual-engined 390km/h monster like the MTM bimoto TT, the S5 does have some extra tricks up its sleeve thanks to some forced-induction modifications under the hood.

The stock S5 gets a 4.2L V8, and MTM bolts a supercharger and intercooler onto this to give it some hair-raising performance figures – 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph. Power in the MTM S5 is a Lamborghini-Gallardo-matching 505hp, up 149 horses from the stock version’s rather tame 354hp. Torque is boosted to 403Nm.
If that’s not enough, MTM also offers a high-flow exhaust system, coilover suspension, 381mm brakes and 21in wheels to give the car some extra handling prowess.
